poem
The Words I Tied Away
I fold my pain and every thought
Into a sack and tie a knot.
I wear a smile each morning now,
As though that’s all that I have got.
I think of you throughout my day;
With every blink, you slip away.
My gaze falls softly to the ground,
Beneath the words I couldn’t say.
Alone among the leaves of time,
I watch the days all disappear.
Afraid of every move I make,
Afraid to lose what I hold dear.
I search for someone I recognise;
A little boy looks back and cries.
I pray that life is kind to you,
While slowly, all his wonder dies.
The worry weighing on my heart,
The love I’ve carried from the start,
I hold them both, the sack pulled tight,
And feel the seams begin to part.
In my voice
