Life as it is

Unshakeable like the mountains,
As strong as the earth which carries me,
I wish to shine bright like the stars,
With love as vast as the sea.

One step in, I look me in the eye
And reach my hand out to the sky,
Hoping one day my time will come,
When I'll spread my wings and fly.

This adventure is beautiful,
Each day I learn something new,
I work on myself in silence again,
Fulfilling those dreams I dreamt with you.

Life is too short to not be happy,
Nothing ever goes as we planned.
So I think about what makes me smile,
Today is all we have in our hand.

So every night, I close my eyes
And wonder how fortunate I am.
To have met you while I'm still alive,
And to have loved you before I die.
